"Essay On Drug Trafficking - Copyrighted"

Drug Trafficking

It was a rather cold night. It was so quiet that you could even hear a pin drop. The streets in my neighbourhood seemed to be cast aside. My family had already gone to sleep on their cosy beds except for my older brother who was working in the night shift as a security guard. He worked to help supplement the family’s monthly income. I was getting ready for bed as it was already one o’ clock in the morning. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang on the house main door.

“Brother Daniel’s back,” I thought.

I paused to think for a little while. Thinking that it was impossible for my brother to come back home early, I suspected that there was something fishy going on.

I quickly rushed to see who was at the door. It was indeed my brother. Beads of perspiration streamed down his pale and sallow face. He was shocked to see me. His immense round eyes were wide opened with horror and his lips trembled with fear. Then I finally knew what he was doing. Ahead of him, there was a box full of illegal drugs. My jaws dropped. I shouted for my parents.

They made their way to the living room. This time, with their eyes wide opened. My dad immediately grabbed his cell phone and called the police while my mother tried to ask him the reasons for his actions. I stood rooted to the ground. Guilt swallowed my brother as tears streamed down his pale and sallow face.

After a few moments, a few narcotics officers arrived while I was yawning away. Panic-stricken, I thought that my brother would be arrested. My parents, however, had positive thoughts. After the investigation, it was confirmed that my own brother was a drug-trafficker. Brother Daniel was sent to the police station for further investigations. My parents and I had tears flowing down our cheeks. I could feel my heart contracting painfully. Although my brother was upset and worn out, he remained calm and didn’t shed a tear. This incident had gravely shaken my whole family and me.

Brother Daniel was found guilty of drug trafficking in the end. However, he was thankful that he was not sentenced to death. He promised to turn over a new leaf. It was indeed an unforgettable incident and this experience had taught me a valuable lesson – drug trafficking is not a solution to increase your family’s low income.

"Now.What's wrong with blogs."

Why do you people have to create trouble? Blogging is used for everyday diary. Some people has initiative and does blogging for other reasons. But for me and some of my intellectual friends, blogging is to improve our language and writing skills. And there, we have problems. A few bloggers are making remarks against other religions and races. For example Nicholas Lim and Benjamin Koh. They were both charged with allegedly posting racist remarks. And a few days after that, private school student, Huai Shi,17, was charged with a similar offence.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recently said that they younger generation must be educated to understand the "eternal truths" about Singapore. " They have to learn that there are certain limits and they have to respect one another" or we would not be able to live together harmoniously. And it is fundamentally wrong to make insulting remarks against anyone's religion or beliefs. Yes. Many agree with PM Lee.

However, a teenager who was interviewed on tv, said that people who made racist remarks shouldn't be charged as they are just expressing out their thoughts and opinions. And if anyone is offended by their remakrs, it's their problem.

At first, I agreed. But. If they made bad remarks about YOU. Would you like it? No. Of course not. Different people have different remarks to make and also have different opinions. Some opinions might hurt others. And so, if you think you remarks might hurt others. Then don't post it on your blog. Think before you act.

" Whether you do it on the Internet, whether you do it in the newspapers, whether you go and say it in public or even at the Speakers' Corner, this is a messeage which is not acceptable"
- Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, against racist remarks.

Now, schools act against students for 'flaming' teachers on blogs.
Fortunately, none of the schools contacted by The Strait Times has banned blogging. Rather, many English teacherss encourage it to improve students' language and writing skills. Schools also said they do not police blogs. They say they only check them after complaints are made.
The MOE said it does not issue guidelines to schools on blogging, but leaves it to them to take appropriate action.

So blogggers. I beg you. Please don't do anything silly? Just blog to enhance your writing skills alright?

"We should ban tobacco. Shouldn't we?"

This entry is specifically about what's going on in Singapore. Singapore's National Cancer Centre is planning to organise a campaign to ban tobacco. Smoking. How I hate it. Well good thing I will never touch a cigarrette. Smokers. Some are rich and some may not be. The rich ones. Yes. For you, a box of cigarrette is totally affordable for you. And it is also affordable to kill yourself.
The not-so-rich-ones. You can't afford. Why spend all those money on cigarrettes, when you can actually buy something benifitial ; something you need? And you're spoiling yourself with tobacco. You want to get sick and PAY for all those check-ups?

With Singapore's success in banning chewing gum, the National Cancer Centres in Asia are looking to Singapore to take the lead in proposing a ban on tobacco products in 10 years. Singapore's National Cancer Centre is in talks with the Health Ministry and wants to work in partnership with the community. This includes working with the Health Promotion Board to offer alternatives to current smokers, such as nicotine patches.

And it costs Singapore some $600 million to $800 million a year to treat tobacco-related illnesses.. Lung cancer claims nearly three Singaporeans daily. The death toll is the highest compared to any other cancer, including breast and colon cancers. And research has shown, tobacco is the most important preventable cause of lung cancer. Up to 500 million people in the next 50 years will potentially die of tobacco-related illnesses. This is despite smokers being 20 times more likely to develop lung cancer than non-smokers. Second-hand smokers are not entirely spared - they make up 29 percent of lung cancer patients.

I will support the National Cancer Centre in whatever they decide. And if you smokers don't like how they decide. It's actually for your own good. My dad was in Zurich a few weeks ago. He bought a box of cigarrettes there. It is so called " branded ". In Singapore, there are images of how smoking can harm yourself. Right? But Zurich. Is so good. They're straightforward.
It is written " Smokers die younger ". Now how great is that. By reading that, the smokers might feel guilty. We are not insulting smokers in anyways. But technically, smokers DO die younger. I hope smokers reading this will support the National Cancer Centre with the campaigns they're organising.

Anti-smoking. A good habit.

"Sigh"

School has been silent. For me, that is. Hardly talk in class. Recess. Very Alone. And I look forward to hearing the last bell. Very much. I enjoy doing homework more than doing work at school. I'm not being anti-social, not wanting to make friends. I have maybe met a lot of hypocries and liars. Maybe..

I hate my class more and more.. I wonder why. I just can't stand them for almost two years already. I just can't stand most of them. This sucks. How am I suppose to concentrate?
They have brains, yes they do. Sadly, they just don't know how to use it. Pffft. It isn't fair. Thw whole class will be looked down on. Moreover, 6V has a bad name. And when I say I'm in 6V, people were stunned. Yes I know my class isn't the best but...Should you look down on me too?

I can't stand it. I wanna work hard for PSLE and leave that shittenning school and " friends " alone. That's the spirit I should say. I need to believe in myself. And I will forever till the end of my my life.

"17 Sept. It keeps getting better and better"

Hahaha! mY birthday today. Turn 12 !! So happy. Let's see if turning 12 is such a bad thing like what my friends have said. Hmm. Went to Jurong Point. Two disappointment, my mom and sisters bought their THANG ( things ) first. -.- >That's so not fair !!! >< !! And..didn't have a chance to bought a pump shoe from Charles and Keith cause there isn't any branch at JP. The cool thing is that. We went to eat at Fish and Co. Yipeee. That totally reminds me of Ocean Basket in South Africa. I ate Captain Hook's Fish and Chips. My god. It's so gorgeous and delicious.
Then we shop here and there. Dad was talking about handphones here and there while I was looking for Lily's present. It was so tough to look for it. And then, the sales assistant recommended me some gifts. So Lily, it wasn't that easy to look for a present for you.I bought quite a lot of things. Hahah. Was fun. So fun that we've forgotten to takeaway an ice-cream cake from Swensens.. Haha.
